Background to the Pacer competition

After more than 3 decades of service, Pacer trains are being phased out alongside the introduction of a fleet of new and refurbished trains across the northern network. This competition marks the removal of the Pacer trains from the Northern network and has been launched to ensure Pacers continue serving communities in new and innovative ways.
