Firing times

Listed below are the dates and times when Ponteland, Otterburn and/or Redesdale Ranges are being used for live firing; Otterburn Ranges are the southern part of the ranges, with Redesdale in the northern part. Bellshiel demolition range is a live standalone range at the southwest corner of Redesdale range. Ponteland (PTA) is a separate training facility managed by Otterburn, situated on Berwick Hill Rd, NE20 0JY.

Your safety

For your own safety do not pick up, kick, or remove any object. Do not stray off the access routes or tarmac roads.

When no red flags or lamps are displayed, public access to the ranges is permitted on specified tarmac roads, public footpaths and bridleways only.

Dry training (no live ammunition)

Dry training using blank ammunition and pyrotechnics may still be conducted outside of the published firing times above.

Access and location

Otterburn ranges are to the south and Redesdale is to the north. Bellshiel demolition range is a live standalone range at the south west corner of Redesdale range.

Access information for the above training areas is published by the National Park authority and is to be adhered to for the safety of all. The access information gives clear guidance to areas that are open to the public during live firing and during period of no live firing activity.
