Details

The AWC was asked to review the 2014 Farm Animal Welfare Committee recommendations concerning the welfare of farmed fish at the time of slaughter. This advice to UK Governments:

  • reviews the landscape of the farmed fish industry in the UK in 2022
  • reviews progress in the killing practices used in slaughterhouses and during on-farm slaughter
  • assesses animal welfare issues relating to the killing of farmed fish
  • reviews the 2014 recommendations to improve the welfare of farmed fish as well as making some more of its own
