1. Purpose

To clarify how attestation II.7 in GBHC092X can be completed for imports of processed petfood from non-EU countries when:

  • the product either contains a mixture of ingredients deriving from bovine and Cervidae components, or
  • the consignment consists of separate products, each containing either bovine or Cervidae components

2. Background

Currently, attestation II.7 in GBHC092X requires certification that the petfood is:

  • either derived from other ruminants than bovine, ovine or caprine animals (this includes Cervidae)
  • or derived from bovine, ovine or caprine animals (for which further Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) attestations must be certified in this Export Health Certificate (EHC))

Due to this selective wording, it appears these options cannot both be certified which is causing confusion at some GB Border Control Posts (BCPs) and therefore clarification is needed.

In cases, where the:

  • product imported contains both bovine and Cervidae components, or
  • consignment consists of separate products each containing bovine or Cervidae components

BCPs can accept GBHC092X if attestation II.7 has:

  • both options (‘either’, ‘or’) certified, or
  • only option ‘derived from bovine, ovine or caprine animals’ certified
