21 October 2025: Notification of transition of Australia’s animal by-products export certification to NEXDOC
Updated 22 October 2025
Purpose
To inform BCPs of Australia’s transition to Next Export Documentation System (NEXDOC) for ABP product exports.
From 27 October 2025, Australia will begin transitioning its export certification for animal by-products to NEXDOC.
Background
Australia is implementing the Next Export Documentation System (NEXDOC). This transition aims to make Australia’s export certification system more modern, secure and responsive to changes in trade conditions.
Due to the scope and complexity of the export certificates impacted by this transition, not all ABP certificates will transition to NEXDOC on the above date. Some certificates may continue to be issued in their current format while all certificates for ABP are transferred over to the NEXDOC system.
Dairy, honey and apiculture products, egg and egg products, fish and fish products, wool, skins and hides, and generic certification used for low-risk grocery items have already transitioned to NEXDOC certificates periodically since 2021.
Action for OVSs
Please note the above information and be aware that either format of certificate is acceptable for imports of ABP from Australia until further notice.
