Purpose
To inform you that, due to a recent outbreak of Tropilaelaps spp. mite in Türkiye (Rep .of), the following commodities originating from Türkiye should be held:
- honey bees
- unprocessed apiculture by-products
- used beekeeping equipment
- apiculture products in honeycomb intended for human consumption
Background
Türkiye confirmed an outbreak of Tropilaelaps spp. mite on 31 August 2026: WAHIS. The outbreak was first detected in Çavuşlu, Artvin Province.
The UK Office for SPS Trade Assurance will implement restrictions against commercial imports of the following commodities from Türkiye:
- honey bees
- unprocessed apiculture by-products
- used beekeeping equipment
- apiculture products in honeycomb intended for human consumption
A separate OVS note will be issued when these restrictions are implemented. In the meantime, any consignments from Türkiye of the above-mentioned commodities should be held.
