Nutrition labelling: voluntary front of pack scheme updates

Latest updates on the UK voluntary front of pack nutrition labelling scheme for food and drink products.

Front of pack nutrition labelling scheme provides the information that food and drink companies can put on the front of their packaging in the form of: energy (kiloJoules and kilocalories) only, or energy plus fat, saturates, sugars and salt. The UK 2013 voluntary scheme recommends a format for this information that uses colour coding and percentage ‘reference intakes’.

More information can be found in the guide to creating a front of pack (FoP) nutrition label for pre-packed products sold through retail outlets
