Details of the application

The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 (that does not involve substantial change) from Bedfordia Farms Limited. It is now consulting on the proposed decision.

Applicant name

Bedfordia Farms Limited

Reference number

EPR/AP3237RR/V003

Brief description of activity

The permitted number of broilers on site at any one time is reduced from 540,000 to 320,000. The number of poultry houses is reduced from 10 to 6. We have reviewed the new housing introduced with this permit variation for this installation against the Best Available Technique (BAT) conclusions as defined in Intensive Farming BAT conclusion document dated 20/02/17. The permit conditions and schedules ensure the compliance of the new housing with this BAT conclusions document. The installation was previously permitted to have 4 biomass boilers on site with an aggregated thermal rated input of 4.56 MW. There will now be 1 biomass boiler on the installation with a net rated thermal input of 1.945 MW.
