This document is the publication of the government’s 2024 definition of extremism. It also includes a list of behaviours which could constitute extremist acts and additional context to understand the definition and the associated behaviours.
This definition supersedes the previously published definitions of extremism written in the 2011 Prevent Strategy and later revised in the 2015 Counter-Extremism Strategy.
