Who collects your personal data

What personal data’s collected and how it’s used

Natural England collects the following personal information of its stakeholders:

  • name
  • photo, where this is linked to a social media profile, as it appears on your social media account (Twitter or LinkedIn)

Natural England also collects the following business-related information of its stakeholders:

  • address
  • postcode
  • telephone
  • employer
  • job title
  • company address
  • company contact details
  • business social media web addresses

The data will be used to identify contacts in organisations and to record Natural England’s interactions with them. Organisations and contacts within those organisations will usually be in the public domain.

Natural England will store interactions and keep them as a record. These could include:

  • business meetings held with stakeholders
  • business notes or actions captured at meetings or in conversation and communication
  • communications that take place relating to regular business matters

Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.

The task is to maintain a stakeholder database.

The processing of your data is not based on consent. You cannot withdraw it.

Who Natural England shares your personal data with

Natural England will not share the personal data collected under this privacy notice with other organisations.

Natural England respects your personal privacy when responding to access to information requests. It only shares information when necessary to meet the statutory requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

How long Natural England holds personal data

Natural England will keep your personal data for 1 year after it was last accessed.

What happens if you do not provide the data

Natural England will be unable to get in touch with you to:

  • communicate policy or announcements
  • fulfill its statutory duties
  • invite you to meetings or events

Use of automated decision-making or profiling

The information you provide is not used for:

  • automated decision making (making a decision by automated means without any human involvement)
  • profiling (automated processing of personal data to evaluate certain things about an individual)

Transfer of data outside of the UK

Natural England will only transfer your data to another county that is deemed adequate for data protection purposes.
