Who collects your personal data

What personal data’s collected and how it’s used

Natural England will collect your name and contact details. Natural England may use your data to:

  • contact you about your sponsorship or donation
  • send you updates about the project you’re sponsoring or have donated to
  • provide a benefit in return for your sponsorship or donation, such as a guided visit to a site

Processing your data is necessary:

  • when there’s a contract between you and Natural England
  • for the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller
  • for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest

The task is to allow Natural England to perform its statutory duty to ensure that the natural environment is conserved, enhanced and managed for the benefit of present and future generations.

The processing of your data is not based on consent. You can ask for your contact details to be removed from the list at any time by emailing enquiries@naturalengland.org.uk.

Who Natural England shares your personal data with

Natural England does not share your information with other organisations.

Natural England respects your personal privacy when responding to access to information requests. Natural England only shares information when necessary to meet the statutory requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

How long Natural England holds personal data

Natural England keeps personal data for 10 years. Natural England then reviews the data to see if it should destroy it.

What happens if you do not provide the data

Natural England may be unable to:

  • allow the sponsorship to start
  • contact you about your donation or sponsorship

Use of automated decision-making or profiling

The information you provide is not used for:

  • automated decision making (making a decision by automated means without any human involvement)
  • profiling (automated processing of personal data to evaluate certain things about an individual)

Transfer of data outside the European Economic Area (EEA)

Natural England will not transfer your data outside the EEA.
