Commissioned audit of the National Transport Model (NTM) version 5.

The audit was commissioned to help us better understand any model risks arising from errors and vulnerabilities. We also wanted to thoroughly review the model, as analysis carried out using NTMv5 could impact a large number of transport users and individuals affected by transport infrastructure.

Based on the model given to us in late 2019, the audit was able to identify corrections as part of our programme of internal improvements. These corrections to the model have subsequently been implemented.

NTM version 5 includes greater spatial detail than NTM version 2 and is used to:

• analyse national transport policy and roads strategy
• produce road traffic forecasts
