Understanding the challenges prison dental services are currently facing is vital when making improvements.

All dental service providers in adult prisons in England, Wales and Northern Ireland were invited to participate in the survey. The response rate was 86%.

Partners should consider the recommendations and agree actions and responsibilities, so that users of prison dental services receive high quality equitable care.

The system should work collaboratively to improve oral health and reduce health inequalities so that all adults have a healthy mouth as part of living well.
