Details of the application

The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from E.ON UK CHP Limited.

Regulated facility type

This Permit, for the operation of large combustion plant (LCP).

Permitted under Section 1.1 A(1) (a): Burning any fuel in an appliance with a rated thermal input of 50 megawatts or more.

The variation is to decommission the existing gas fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant and build a new gas-fired CHP plant with a nominal power output of 68-73 megawatts at Kemsley Paper Mill.
