Report your materials facility data to your regulator

Keep materials facility records
Operators of notified materials facilities must record and keep the following information for each reporting period. You may be required to produce these records for inspection by the regulator:
- a written sampling methodology demonstrating how you ensure that samples taken to meet your sampling requirements are representative of the incoming waste material of each supplier and of the specified output material produced
- the total weight in tonnes of waste material received by the materials facility from each supplier and the name and address of that supplier
- the weight and composition of each sample of waste material taken at the facility from each named supplier and the dates samples were taken
- the weight in tonnes of waste that does not qualify as materials facility waste material which leaves the facility and where it is sent and the dates it leaves your facility
- the weight in tonnes of waste material that has not been sorted at your facility or mixed with waste material from another supplier which leaves your facility for another materials facility, where it is sent and the dates it left your facility
- the total weight in tonnes of specified output material that leaves the materials facility, where it is sent and the dates it left your facility
- the weight and composition of each sample of specified output material produced at the materials facility during the reporting period
- details of the total amount in tonnes of specified output material produced by the materials facility, identified by the grade of glass, aluminium, steel, paper, plastic and fibre-based composite material
How long to keep records
Information recorded before 1 October 2024
Keep for a minimum of 4 years from the date that it was first recorded.
Information recorded after 1 October 2024
Keep for a minimum of 7 years from the date that it was first recorded.
Send materials facility reports to your regulator
If you have notified as a materials facility, you must submit reports to your regulator:
- electronically, in a format specified by your regulator
- within one month of the end of each reporting period you remain notified for
Reporting periods and deadlines
For the reporting periods:
- 1 January to 31 March: submit reports by 30 April
- 1 April to 30 June: submit reports by 31 July
- 1 July to 30 September: submit reports by 31 October
- 1 October to 31 December: submit reports by 31 January
