The Cabinet Office requires Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) to be reviewed every 3 years by their parent department. The triennial review of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) was launched on 10 September 2013.

The review concluded that the MMO’s functions are necessary and should continue to be delivered by a Non-Departmental Public Body, and that the MMO is best placed to carry out these functions.

The review reflects on the evolution of the MMO since its creation, reflecting on the health of the organisation in terms of governance and operation and has made some recommendations where further improvements could be made.

The report of the review is accompanied by a full assessment of the body’s compliance with the principles of good corporate governance.
