LinkedIn — pre-launch

A new registration requirement for paid tax advisers comes into force on 18 May 2026. If your firm submits returns, makes payments or communicates with HMRC on behalf of clients, you are likely in scope — regardless of your job title.

You have 3 months to apply once your window opens — start preparing now.

Use the checker on GOV.UK to see what action you need to take.

LinkedIn — go-live

Embargoed until 18 May until link is available.

HMRC’s mandatory tax adviser registration is now open.

Remember: registration is at firm level, not individual staff. You’ll need to identify your firm’s ‘relevant individuals’ as part of the process.

HMRC has published guidance to help.

LinkedIn — reminder

If your firm doesn’t already have access to the agent services account, the deadline for registration is 18 August 2026. If you haven’t started yet, now is a good time — the online process is free and straightforward. Don’t wait until the final weeks.

LinkedIn — reminder for conveyancer audience
