Details of the application
The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from OCO Technology Limited.

Regulated facility type
The facility treats air pollution control (APCR) residues to produce an aggregate. Waste is delivered by powder tanker and transferred into silos. From the silos, material is fed into a reactor where it is treated with carbon dioxide to reduce pH and limit the leachability of heavy metals. The treated material is then mixed with cement, sand and water to form pellets. Pellets are placed in curing bays. All processing activities take place within a building.
The variation application is proposing to increase the annual throughput from 120,000 tonnes to 150,000 tonnes. It also proposing to use the two existing binder storage silos to be repurposed for waste storage, increasing total silo numbers from 10 to 12 and storage capacity from 2,375 tonnes to 2,850 tonnes.
