On 2 July 2026, the Certification Officer gave notice under section 4(2) of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 of his provisional view that Libertas Union should be removed from the list of trade unions. Following receipt of representations from the organisation, he asked the Assistant Certification Officer to determine the matter.

The Assistant Certification Officer determined that Libertas Union should be removed from the list of trade unions with effect from 5 August 2026. The reasons for that decision are set out in the published decision.
