The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Sunrise Poultry Farms Limited.

Section 6.9 A(1)(a)(i) Rearing of poultry (specifically broilers) intensively in an installation with more than 40,000 places. Hoton Farm poultry Unit is applying for a permit for 99,000 free range layers for the production of free range eggs, housed in three poultry houses.

  • a summary of the management system
  • an environmental risk assessment
  • proposed operating techniques, including an assessment of best available techniques

  • modelling and monitoring of any significant emissions to air, land or water

  • raw material usage and measures for energy efficiency and avoiding waste production
