Details of the application

The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Kimberly Clark Limited.

Regulated facility type

The plant manufactures tissue products for the consumer and professional businesses. The tissue is manufactured on paper machines and the products can be produced from imported virgin fibre or recycled fibre which is processed in the site de-inking facility.

The processes fall under the following IED Schedule 1 listed activity descriptions:

Section 6.1 Part A(1)(a) - Producing, in industrial plant, pulp from timber or other fibrous materials.

Section 6.1 Part A(1)(b) - Producing, in industrial plant, paper and board where the plant has a production capacity of more than 20 tonnes per day.

Section 1.1 Part A(1)(a) - Burning any fuel in an appliance with a rated thermal input of 50 megawatts or more.
