The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from University of Liverpool Energy Company Limited.

Regulated facility type

A pair of immediately neighbouring energy centres that house three natural gas fired boilers and three natural gas fired combined heat and power (CHP) engines which provide heat and power to nearby University of Liverpool campus buildings. The aggregated thermal input of all appliances is approximately 65MW.

Reference 1.10.1, Section 1.1 A(1) a) combustion plant - rated thermal input of 50MWth or more.
