Teacher assessment exemplification: English reading - working at the expected standard

Details

The end of KS1 national curriculum assessments became optional from the academic year 2023 to 2024. If schools choose to carry out optional KS1 teacher assessment, they can use these materials to help inform the judgements they make against the non-statutory KS1 teacher assessment framework for English reading.

The materials exemplify working at the expected standard. They illustrate how the ‘pupil can’ statements in the frameworks might be met, but they do not dictate a particular method of teaching or the evidence expected from the classroom.
