Kier Infrastructure and Overseas Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from Groundwater - upper aquifer in the Tidal Flat Deposits at The Moors, Arne, near Wareham, Dorset and to transfer it to the River Frome Estuary without intervening use.

Abstraction will be from the area contained within the boundary formed by straight lines between National Grid References SY 93607 87889, SY 95926 87886, SY 93605 86205, and SY 95925 86202.

Water will be discharged within the same boundary.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 130 cubic metres an hour

  • 715 cubic metres a day

  • 114,912 cubic metres a year

  • At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 36 litres per second

  • between 01 April and 31 October inclusive.

The purpose of the proposed licence is dewatering.
