Key stage 2 tests: an overview
An introduction to the key stage 2 English grammar, punctuation and spelling, English reading and mathematics national curriculum tests. These are commonly known as SATs.

The national curriculum tests (often referred to as SATs) are designed to assess pupils’ knowledge and understanding of specific elements of the key stage 2 programmes of study.
Schools must administer the tests in May each year, according to a statutory timetable.
