Jonathan Dodd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Coquet at Guyzance meander, Guyzance, Northumberland at National Grid Reference (NGR) NU 20983 03140.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 10,440 cubic metres an hour

  • 250,560 cubic metres a day

  • 91,454,400 cubic metres a year

  • At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 2,900 litres per second.

  • Abstraction period: All year

The water will be abstracted at NGR NU 20983 03140 and will be used for hydropower and electricity production before being discharged to the River Coquet at NGR NU 21107 03115 thereby creating a 1,750 metre depleted reach.
