Ivory Act 2018: civil sanctions July 2025 to June 2026

As of 21 May 2026, the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) have applied the following civil sanctions under the Ivory Act 2018. All offences are breaches under section 12 of the Act.

Business: Almasy Antiques

Civil sanction: Enforcement Undertaking

Items involved:

  1. buying and selling and keeping for sale unregistered item containing ivory S1(2)(a)(c):  Edwardian dressing mirror containing ivory stringing and ivory-topped uprights

  2. offering or arranging to sell and keeping for sale unregistered items containing ivory S1(2)(b)(c): table containing ivory parts and an Edwardian dressing mirror

Details:

  • enforcement undertaking was offered in relation to the dealing of unregistered items containing ivory

  • an enforcement undertaking was accepted to address this offence

  • a certificate of completion of the enforcement undertaking was issued on 16 March 2026, confirming that the agreed actions had been fulfilled

Business: The Sheffield Cutlery Shop

Civil sanction: Enforcement Undertaking

Items involved: offering or arranging to sell and keeping for sale unregistered items containing ivory, S1(2)(b)(c):

  • various cutlery sets and pen-knives

Details:

  • enforcement undertaking was offered in relation to the offering for sale of several cutlery sets and pen knives

  • an enforcement undertaking was accepted to address this offence

  • a certificate of completion of the enforcement undertaking was issued on 21 May 2026, confirming that the agreed actions had been fulfilled
