Details

Fill in this form if you want to appeal against a failed IVA inspection and you’re not satisfied with the decision.

Your appeal must reach the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) within 14 days of the date on the ‘notice of refusal’ you were given.

  1. Download and fill in the form.

  2. Save the form on your computer.

  3. Send the form to approvals@dvsa.gov.uk.

  4. Pay the appeal inspection fee by credit or debit card (DVSA will tell you how to do this after you’ve applied), or using a pre-funded account. It costs the same as the original test. If the appeal is upheld (either in full or in part), you might get a full or partial refund.

If your appeal is accepted, your vehicle will be re-examined by an independent inspector.

Do not modify or carry out any work on the vehicle before the appeal inspection. It could affect the outcome of the appeal if you do.
