About the expert review
The First Order Draft (FOD) of the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities will be available for expert review from 17 October 2025 until 11pm GMT on 12 December 2025.
The expert review of the FOD is a key element of the IPCC assessment process, helping to ensure that the report provides a balanced and comprehensive assessment of the latest available scientific findings. The IPCC Procedures state that the expert review process shall be objective, open and transparent, with a wide circulation that aims to involve as many independent experts as possible, seeking a wide range of views, expertise, and geographical representation.
How to apply
The IPCC is inviting experts to register as prospective reviewers of the FOD of the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities via the IPCC website.
Registration closes on 30 November 2025 at 11pm GMT. Additional information on the role of an expert reviewer can be found in Annex 1 of Appendix A to the Principles Governing IPCC Work. See more information about the Expert Review process.
