The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke permit application under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Sizewell C Limited.

Works (whether temporary or permanent) in, over or under the Minsmere New Cut (main river).
Description of activity
Vegetation clearance and desilting (slubbing) of approximately 640 metres of the Minsmere New Cut north of the Lower Abbey Farm, Leiston, IP16 4SP. The slubbing will be conducted using a mechanical excavator equipped with a ditching bucket or weed rake.
The objectives of the proposed works are to:
- Improve conveyance of water within the Minsmere New Cut
- Manage water levels within the upstream Minsmere to Walberswick Heath and Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
- Improve conditions within the marshes for cutting and grazing to take place across the wider area.
