Details of the application

The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Muntons PLC.

Regulated facility type

This is a variation:

  • To add a Reverse Osmosis & Membrane Bio Reactor plant to the 5.4 A(1)(b)(i) to allow potential recycling and reuse of water in the factory.

  • To increase permitted discharge to the River Gipping from W1 from 1500m3 to 2500m3 per 24-hour period to take account of increased production and planned developments. 

  • To allow the accept and treat the trade effluent discharge from the Energy Centre in the sites effluent treatment plant.
