Investigations of endocrine disruption in UK freshwater molluscs

To determine the likely existence and extent of endocrine disruption in UK native freshwater gastropods.

The association between the presence of domestic sewage effluent and abnormal reproductive development in fish, in British rivers, is widely recognised, but very little is known about the effects of exposure to domestic sewage effluent on invertebrates. This project was commissioned to begin to fill this knowledge gap. It concentrates on native freshwater gastropod molluscs.
