In October 2025 the Home Secretary commissioned an inspection into the contributions police forces in England and Wales make to safety advisory groups (SAGs) and other bodies responsible for high-profile public events.

This letter to the Home Secretary from Sir Andy Cooke QPM DL, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary and HM Chief Inspector of Fire & Rescue Services, outlines progress so far.
