In pursuance of section 19(1) of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and section 35(1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, Natural England has, by the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve No.05 Declaration made on the 23rd day of October 2025, declared that the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve is extended.

The land having a total area of 118.28 hectares or thereabouts, situated in the Parish of Horton in Ribblesdale in the County of North Yorkshire and shown black dotted and shaded yellow on the attached maps 7 and 8, (which land was included in the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve No.01 Declaration made by the Nature Conservancy Council for England on the 5th day of March 1992) is no longer the subject of a nature reserve agreement and has been acquired and is now held by Natural England and is being managed as a nature reserve.

The extension land having a total area of 180.87 hectares or thereabouts shown single hatched and shaded yellow on the maps attached to the said Declaration, situated in the Parishes of Ingleton, Horton in Ribblesdale and Austwick in the County of North Yorkshire is held by Natural England or is held by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, a body approved by Natural England to hold and manage National Nature Reserves.

The said land now having a total area of 1197.52 hectares or thereabouts is being managed as a nature reserve, and Natural England is satisfied that the land is of national importance.

And in accordance with section 19(3) of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 (as amended), and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, Natural England has declared that the land having a total area of 7.49 hectares or thereabouts, situated in the Parish of Ingleton in the County of North Yorkshire and shown crosshatched black on map 2 attached to the said Declaration (which land was included in Ingleborough National Nature Reserve No. 1 Declaration made by The Nature Conservancy Council for England on the 5th day of March 1992) has ceased to be held and managed by Natural England as a nature reserve.
