This document gives the latest guidance on installing and using different tactile paving surfaces, which help to give visually impaired pedestrians important information about potential hazards and other features in their environment.

This guidance has been informed by research that the Department for Transport (DfT) published in February 2020.

We expect to review this document frequently in the future, responding to evolving research, people’s needs and best practice.

We will consider feedback, evolving evidence and research to inform future updates. We will do this through our work to deliver our commitments in the Inclusive Transport Strategy.
