The inclusive mainstream fund (IMF) forms part of the government’s commitment to support the development of a more inclusive mainstream education system. 

These publications provide non-statutory guidance, a strategy template and best practice for:

  • school leaders
  • academy trust leaders
  • head teachers
  • trustees and governors.

This guidance will help you to:

  • understand how to use the IMF alongside your core budget allocations
  • develop an inclusion strategy
  • strengthen inclusive practice and improve support for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
