The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from AMP Biomass (Net Zero 2) Limited.

This application is for an Environmental Permit for AMP Biomass (Net Zero 2) Limited to operate a new Biomass Power Plant located at the Cargill Hull chemicals site. The purpose of the Biomass Power Plant is to provide heat energy in the form of steam to the Cargill chemicals site, for which it is applying for a Directly Associated Activity permit. The feedstock for the power plant is to be virgin wood with no waste wood to be accepted.
The plant has a thermal input of 15 megawatts and will classify as a new Medium Combustion Plant under Schedule 25A of the Environmental Permitting Regulations if approved, as the date of first operation will be after 20/12/2018.
The main Cargill Chemicals site is permitted to carry out the following activities:

Production of organic chemicals such as organic compounds containing oxygen

Production of organic chemicals such as organic compounds containing nitrogen

- proposed operating techniques, including an assessment of best available techniques
