Annex B: example information for panel participants

Published 13 February 2023

Applies to England

Here is an example of some additional information you may wish to use when communicating with parents and carers in advance of them joining your Start for Life parent and carer panel.

Example information

We wanted to provide you with some information on what to expect when participating in the Start for Life parent and carer panel, and how the feedback gathered during your panel session will be used.

Joining and leaving the panel

Your participation is voluntary. You can take a break or stop participating at any time.

How you will remain anonymous

Someone from [enter the name of your local authority or facilitating organisation here] will take detailed notes during your session, but will not record the identity of anyone who contributes.

The information gathered from panel sessions will not be shared in a way that identifies you or any other individual.

What your feedback will be used for

Staff from [enter the name of your local authority or facilitating organisation here] will review the panel’s feedback and use this to inform the early years services in your local area.

Your feedback may also be shared with the Department of Health and Social Care, the Department for Education, and the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to inform their policy work [if applicable].

Other panellists

There will be other participants in attendance at the panel sessions. However, everyone will be strongly encouraged not to share other participants’ views outside of the panel.

What will happen to the notes taken at panel meetings

The notes taken in panel meetings may be published. Case studies that refer to the panel’s feedback could be made public.

If this happens, no personal data that could be used to identify you will be released.
