Introduction
1. This circular confirms the details of the second payment made to local authorities (LAs) to support the administration of the Verify Earnings and Pensions (VEP) Alert service for 2018-19.
2. A letter was sent to each LA confirming their individual payment on either 14 February or 19 March 2019. The funding allocations are included in Annex A.
Funding arrangements
3. A total of £25 million was made available to provide LAs with the capacity to process both the VEP Alerts and/or the Real Time Information referrals during 2018-19. We advised this would be split into 2 payments, with £20 million being paid upfront to LAs in April 2018 and an additional £5 million set aside to pay in quarter 4 2018-19; subject to the criteria laid out in circular HB A5/2018. Further details can be found in the circular and the launch letter sent to LAs on 3 April 2018.
Payment information
4. Those LAs that received their letter on 14 February received their second funding allocation payment the week commencing 4 March 2019. Those LAs that received their letter on 19 March will receive their payment the week commencing 26 March 2019.
