Guidance

Local land charges software suppliers

Updated 19 April 2024

Applies to England and Wales

The following software suppliers support local authorities with the Local Land Charges service.

HM Land Registry does not recommend or endorse any one product or service over another and will not be responsible for any loss, damage, cost or expense in connection with using this software.

Please contact the software supplier to:

  • ensure the software product meets your specific needs
  • provide support
  • request further information about the software

1. Software suppliers contracted to work with HM Land Registry

These software suppliers are contracted to work with HM Land Registry. They support local authorities during local land charge migration activity and in live service.

These software suppliers can provide a local authority with:

  • data extracts from their local land charges software systems
  • data imports back into the local authority’s local land charges software systems to support migration activity
  • application programming interface (API) integration from their local land charges software system, enabling them to add, vary and cancel local land charges

2. Software suppliers who work directly with local authorities

These software suppliers work directly with local authorities to support local land charge migration activity and in live service. HM Land Registry does not have a contract with these suppliers but collaborate with them and the local authority to provide the required services.

Civica can provide a local authority with data extracts from their local land charges software systems.

Ocella Software Systems and StatMap can provide a local authority with:

  • data extracts from their local land charges software systems
  • data imports back into the local authority’s local land charges software systems to support migration activity
  • API integration from their local land charges software system, enabling them to add, vary and cancel local land charges

3. Software solutions that have at least one local authority integrated to the HM Land Registry API in live service

These local land charges software solutions have at least one local authority using an API integration in live service. This enables a local authority to add, vary and cancel local land charges.

To achieve this, HM Land Registry and the local authority need to have completed the data migration to move their local land charges register to live service. At that point, the supplier’s API integration goes live.

Local authorities can also use HM Land Registry’s User Interface (GUI) as an alternative to or in combination with the API. The GUI is a GOV.UK web-based application. It enables local authorities to add, vary and cancel charges online.
