In 2011 NNB Generation Company Limited (EDF Energy) applied for 3 key environmental permits that it would need to operate its proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point. This would be regulated through the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010.
The Environment Agency consulted on its draft decisions in 2012. They have now carefully considered all the comments made on their draft decisions and have made final decisions on all 3 applications.
These documents provide a summary of our decisions. The Environment Agency’s overall conclusion is that they should issue all 3 permits. They consider that the limits and conditions in the permits are suitable to properly protect people and the environment.
