Details

The Heat Training Grant (HTG) provides heating engineers with grants of up to £500 towards eligible heat pump or heat network installation training in England.

The performance of the HTG is being monitored under the HTG Mid-scheme Review. These tables and commentary provide results for the second wave of the HTG Mid-scheme Review, based on a 2025 survey of heating engineers who have completed heat pump installation training under the HTG since September 2024. The survey did not capture trainees who had completed heat networks training, which is also provided through the HTG.

The survey covers several areas to assess the performance of the HTG, including:

  • proportion of trainees who become active installers
  • training quality
  • additional training
  • access to post-training support
  • proportion of trainees who become certified following training

The results are used to help inform future policy decisions.

The original survey was conducted in 2024, and the first set of data tables was published in January 2025.
