Details of the application

H2O Power Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Barnton Cut at Saltersford Lock, Saltersford at National Grid Reference (NGR) SJ 62690 75139.

The application is to abstract water all year as follows:

  • 28,800 cubic metres an hour

  • 691,200 cubic metres a day

  • 252,455,405 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for hydro-electric power production via an Archimedean screw turbine.

All water abstracted will be returned to the River Weaver at NGR SJ 62670 75172.
