The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from UKOG (234) LTD.

Environmental permit for onshore oil and gas exploratory operations

Regulated facility type

Onshore Oil and Gas new bespoke application for the drilling and testing of a well and sidetrack for the purpose of prospecting for hydrocarbons. The proposed activities are: - Mining Waste Operation. - Incineration of gas in a flare with a capacity above 10 tonnes per day.

Additionally the Applicant has submitted a separate application for a Standard Rule Permit under SR2015 No 2 for the Storing and Handling of Crude Oil. This standard rule permit will be considered at the same time as this application. The documents relating to the Standard Rule application are being made available for information and do not form part of the consultation as Standard Rule permits are not subject to consultation.

The Operator has also applied for a Standard Rules SR2014 No 4, Accumulation and disposal of radioactive waste from the NORM Industrial Activity of the production of oil and gas. We are not inviting comments on this radioactive substances activity application. We consulted on these standard rules and the associated risk assessment and then published the final set for operators to use in December 2014.
