Details

Healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) surveillance data on Escherichia coli (E. coli), Klebsiella species (Klebsiella spp.), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and meticillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) bacteraemia and Clostridioides difficile (C. difficile) infection from independent sector (IS) organisations. This report is produced annually.

The spreadsheet includes:

  • counts and rates of E. coli bacteraemia (Table 1)
  • counts and rates of Klebsiella spp. bacteraemia (Table 2)
  • counts and rates of P. aeruginosa bacteraemia (Table 3)
  • counts and rates of MRSA bacteraemia (Table 4)
  • counts and rates of MSSA bacteraemia (Table 5)
  • counts and rates of C. difficile infection (Table 6)

Prior to October 2025 this annual surveillance data from independent sector organisations was published as Official Statistics in Development. Due to low user interaction with the past reports and user surveys, the statistics have been scaled back to a spreadsheet-only report and re-categorised as ‘management information’.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) invites feedback via this survey to understand any unintended impacts on users resulting from the re-categorisation and format of the report.
