GP educator pay scale 2019 to 2020

From 1 April 2019:

GP01 £91,776 Established course organiser or tutor Standard scale point for VTS course organisers, GP tutors and primary care tutors.
GP02 £94,831   Advanced point for special responsibilities and lead roles in developing new initiatives.
GP03 £98,507 Associate adviser, associate director, associate postgraduate dean Standard scale point for associate directors, associate advisers. Period of maintenance work plus person professional development.
GP04 £101,564   Established lead work and lead on new initiatives.
GP05 £104,623   Lead role on national organisations that enhance deanery performance
GP06 £108,295 Deputy director Leadership role, sharing some director duties, footprint extends beyond the deanery, and wider than education management.

In line with the General Medical Services contract, one session is one-tenth of a week.

It is anticipated that opportunities will exist for GP educators to be paid on a higher scale point for agreed periods, covering specific and time limited pieces of work.

This enhancement may be applied to some or all of existing sessions by written agreement with the deanery.

Annual appraisal of performance and professional development should include a review of the GP educators’ position on the pay scale.

The GP trainer grant (previously notified through directions to Health Education England) is £8,350 from 1 April 2019.
