This essay looks at how coalitions of local government, business and the voluntary sector can encourage city development and economic growth by providing people-based public services. These ‘growth coalitions’ aim to boost growth in cities on the basis that what’s good for people – good housing, education and environment etc – is good for economic growth.
The essay was commissioned as part of the Foresight future of cities project.
