Thank you for your information request, dated 30th January 2021, where you asked for the following information:

  • Is the CPRD under the MHRA and therefore subject to freedom of information requests?

  • Please advise incidence of invasive pneumococcal disease in the database by year and age group for 2018, 2019 & 2020?

To answer the first part of your request I can confirm that CPRD is a centre of the MHRA and is subject to Freedom of Information Requests.

Regarding the second part of your request, I can confirm that we do not hold the information that you have requested. The information could only be obtained by designing and running a study of the CPRD database and undertaking further analysis to identify the numbers involved. The FOIA does not oblige a public authority to create information to answer a request if the requested information is not held. The duty is to only provide the recorded information held.

If you disagree with how we have interpreted the Freedom of Information Act 2000 with regards to your request, you can ask for the decision to be reviewed. The review would be carried out by a senior member of the Agency who was not involved with the original decision.

If you have a query about the information provided, please reply to this email.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date you receive this response and addressed to: info@mhra.gov.uk.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, we are not able to accept delivery of any documents or correspondence by post or courier to any of our offices

If you were to remain dissatisfied with the outcome of the internal review, you would have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision.
