This notice sets out how we will use your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Your data

We will process the following personal data:

  • names and contact details of employees involved in preparing and submitting the application;
  • names and contact details of employees proposed to be involved in delivery of the application;

Purpose

DESNZ will be processing your personal data to:

  • to evaluate and process applications made to the Floating Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme (FLOWMIS).

We may also use information for the purposes of policy development and facilitating coordination of the deployment of floating offshore wind,

The legal basis for processing your personal data is provided under the UK GDPR Article 6 1(e):

Public task: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller, such as the exercise of a function of the Crown, a Minister of the Crown, or a government department; the exercise of a function conferred on a person by an enactment; the exercise of a function of either House of Parliament; or the administration of justice.

The public task is to evaluate and process applications made to the Floating Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme (FLOWMIS) and inform future policy development.

Recipients

Your personal data will be shared by us with colleagues at the Department Business and Trade, Her Majesty’s Treasury (HMT), Cabinet Office (CO) and National Audit Office (NAO). Data will be shared with other governmental departments where necessary if they are involved in assessment or the issuing of grant funding. Your personal data will be shared where necessary by us with external contractors appointed to support the competition assessment process. These will be secured through the Crown Commercial Framework.

For the purposes of policy development and facilitating coordination of the deployment of floating offshore wind, DESNZ may draw support and expertise from UKIB and vice versa. If Applicant has submitted an Application to the Scheme and an application for UKIB funding, DESNZ and UKIB may share information provided by the Applicant (including information its Application/application) related to its financial standing and capacity to deliver its Project that may be pertinent to the assessment of its Application to the Scheme and/or its application for UKIB funding.

As your personal data will be stored on our IT infrastructure it will also be shared with our data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.

Retention

Your personal data will be kept by us for the duration of the Floating Offshore Wind Investment Manufacturing Scheme (FLOWMIS). We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purpose of satisfying any legal or reporting requirements. After the scheme has closed, your personal data will be held until 31 March 2025 except that which is necessary to retain in order to ensure continued monitoring and evaluation of any successful applications.

International transfers

As your personal data is stored on our IT infrastructure and shared with our data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, it may be transferred and stored securely outside the UK & European Economic Area. Where that is the case, it will be subject to equivalent legal protection through the use of Model Contract Clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
  • request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
  • request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
  • request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed
  • in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) request that the processing of your personal data is restricted
  • object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes
  • object to the processing of your personal data

Automated decision making

Your personal data will not be subject to automated decision making.

Complaints

If you consider that your personal data has been misused or mishandled, you may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner, who is an independent regulator. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
