Sir David Nicholson and Dr Keith Ridge has written to senior managers in the NHS to highlight that exporting medicines for profit jeopardises both patient care, and the terms of NHS contracts for medicines.

Trusts holding a wholesale dealer’s licence are also bound by Regulations relating to the supply of medicinal products.
